With
Captain-Ty.com, I had originally started
just wanting to put some goofy videos up
and share them hoping that others might
find me as funny as I think I am.
As I delved deeper into video editing I
started to acquire software and hardware
that ended up being useful for my
friends and family to take advantage of
. . .whether it be converting VHS or 8mm
film to DVD or if they wanted help
documenting an event.
Up to
this point my main appeal was that I
would do this for free (although in many
cases the favors were exchanged and so I
guess I could hardly call it free).
I do not necessarily plan on making this
a profession but I did want to more
formally offer some of my services to
people. Below is a table of my
services. I have not included cost
because specific jobs and vary greatly
in the amount of effort and complexity
that is involved, but I will work on a
fixed cost based on an estimate that I
will provide after reviewing the
specifics of the job.

Media Conversion |
I have the tools to convert
8mm, VHS, miniDV (HD and
Standard), to BluRay,DVD or
most any digital format for
playing on the web or on
your computer.
Technically I can convert
the other way too, but that
is not as typical. |
Normally very simple, the
job tends to get very
tedious very quickly with
addition of a more complex
DVD menu system or if the
video is desired to be
edited in a special way |

Scanning and Printing |
I have an EPSON R1900 photo
printer and an HP scanner to
help convert files back and
forth between digital and
paper. Although I am
still somewhat new to it I
can try to touch up the
pictures a bit after
scanning. |
This is generally fairly
easy. |

Videography and Photography |
I have an HD video camera
and the Canon Xsi SLR camera
that I can help in
documenting events with. I
have also had people want to
actually people little
videos. One thing that I
have not finished completely
yet but that was an
interesting idea was
birthday party video where
the kids got to be super
heroes. |
It is fairly easy to take
video (although is an art
that I continuously refine)
but editing the products
tends to be complex. |

Web Site Design |
I am not super
sophisticated, but I would
be able to help someone
design and maintain a
website. Even if you
don't like my design, I am
sure that I would be able to
bring your artistic vision
to life. |

Book Design |
I am still a novice at this,
but I have been working on a
couple of book designs.
One a children's book and
the other is a coffee table
book. I am not into
publishing although I
believe my printer should be
able to provide professional
results, but I cannot bind
the book and I do not have
the connections to mass
distribution . . . although
I am willing to try. |
This can be easy but the art
involved tends to be
laborious until the vision
of the book becomes clear |

IC design |
I don't have any of my own
software tools, however I
can consult in helping to
design a variety of
different ASIC's. I
prefer not
to do too much of this. |

Erickson Family History (ns) |
I have taken a sampling of
VHS from the Erickson family
archives and collected ~100
hours of video that I am
hoping to compile into a
library. The library
will comprise of a edited
collection of highlights and
story items hopefully
dwindled down to 4 or less
DVDs, and then the rest will
be a complete archive in
chronological order on DVD
catalogued for easy future
reference |

Diann and Colin's Wedding

I had an opportunity to go
to Maui just to film a
wedding. I was able to
complete what I like to call
a "Pre-Release" that is the
basic video without some of
the little extras that I try
to plan for the videos. |

Travis and Teresa's Wedding

These are friends of mine
that I chose to make a video
for their wedding. I
meant for it to be a little
thing that I would do in my
spare time between sleep and
video games, but now I am
being told that I am going
to get fired if I don't
complete it soon. |

The Oak Victorian (js) |
I am currently working on a
coffee table book of sorts
that is highlighting a oak
antiques in a Victorian
style interior decoration. |

DHD Compilation (ns) |
I am working on a
compilation of videos from
my high school days.
They were pretty bad, and my
sense of humor was a little
different back then, but
they are still interesting,
although embarrassing to
watch. I keep
recompiling them for my
friends mainly to torment
them about the past.
Truth be told, I was the
only one doing anything
really embarrassing. |

Per the request of a friend,
I had helped video and now
edit a super hero movie that
my friend kids and their
friends had put together.
I was pretty intimidated my
this monumental task, but I
am now confident that it
will come together very
well. |

African Skies - The Days of
Arusha (js) |
I am compiling a book from
my mother's blog from when
she and my dad were in
Africa. The book will
be in excess of 100 pages
filled with pictures and
hopefully done with a very
tasteful hard back binding. |
